“After three years of learning the alto with regular lessons, I was on the verge of giving up. My progress was slow, and playing the sax had become a task on my to-do list rather than the fun hobby it was supposed to be.
But after discovering Lynden’s effervescent and informal YouTube style, I was inspired to rethink my whole approach. I took his advice that the major keys are the ‘keys to the kingdom’ — and, slightly embarrassed that I still wasn’t confident with them, I bought his major scales course and started working through it.
I’m only four weeks in, but already I’m seeing real progress — and more importantly, I’m enjoying the saxophone again. Improvisation, which used to freeze my brain and trip up my fingers, has become something I actually look forward to.
Thank you, Lynden.”
“Your videos are amazing. I have a bachelors degree in saxophone music performance so classically trained. I did some time in Jazz bands but avoided solos as it was a mystery how improv solos were done. Even after completing a college degree I only read. I took a long break from music and finally after 20 years have time to play again.
In the past two years I’ve joined 5 bands and doing solo gigs but still was just trying to develop playing by ear. Just by watching 1 of your videos I understood so so much more than 4 years of college.
Thank you so much 🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷”
Hi Lynden, I just wanted to say thank you and let you know that I’ve learned more, in just a few months, from your tutorials and courses than I had from another online sax studio in 2 years! I feel so much more confident improvising now and am enjoying practicing and jamming with a band! I wanted to buy you a cup of coffee but I can’t seem to find where to do that on your website. Please advise.
Hi Lynden,
I want to thank you for your videos. I am 69 years old and you made me rediscover my dusty saxophone. Your ‘Major Scales Course’ inspired me a lot. There are no boring dull exercises as you often find in textbooks. You bring the scales to life. In section 2 there are so many beautiful phrases that bring my saxophone playing to a new level.
Thank you Lynden.
“An assessment is not scary.
If you are unsure how you sound to others this is a great way to know what a professional thinks to your playing. I’m so pleased I did this, having an assessment is money well spent and it’s not so scary after all.
I sent Lynden a short audio of me playing a solo and was very nervous at first, not really knowing what he would say about it as I thought I sounded terrible.
After a few days Lynden contacted me with an audio reply breaking down my solo into bite sized pieces with alternate ideas to enhance my playing. He played and suggested some vibrato and tonguing whilst being very positive on the overall solo.
Thank you so much Lynden for your encouragement – it’s so helpful.”

“Hi Lynden,
I want to thank you for your videos. I took up saxophone at the age of 64 in 2019 after retirement. I hired a sax for 3 months and after 2 lesson the teacher said that she couldn’t afford the hall where she taught so I had a sax and no teacher! I went online …
I turn to your videos first – I tried to analyse why and I believe that it is because you make the content accessible and achievable. I have wanted to solo to Misty for a few years and these ‘simple solos’ that are posted on YouTube, to me, are far from simple. But your approach produces great solos that can be achieved by learners.
I’ve used your approach to write some simple solos to Besame Mucho. It’s as if you’ve unlocked that impenetrable door that has locked me out for years!!
I use your acid test for major scales each day now as part of my warm up and your play along videos are very useful. With the acid test, I try to fit up and down into two bars or over two octaves into the two bars which is a good challenge for me.
Apologies for the length of the email but I wanted to encourage you not to change.
Also, if you ever think of doing a solo for Stella by Starlight I’ll be overjoyed!!
Keep up the great work.
Kind regards,
Martin”
“You are by far the best teacher I have come across. Every lesson is super helpful. I think its the examples of where and also the how of using what you have taught that makes all the difference. For me the things that makes you stand out from allll the other online sax teachers is that you really care by replying to all the comments and that is HUGE!!!
Also the type of content you putting out is simple easy to follow and very effective. I really love the way you show the patterns and then give examples of how to use them. No other sax teacher does this! I been through a lot of online teachers and you are by far the best.
Thank you for all the time and effort that goes into making all these super use full lessons. My Monday night jam night is going to be awesome from now on!”
“Tried all the pro sax educators on youtube for years, guess what Lynden you are the best.
No thrills, explained in layman’s terms I feel better with the sax after I have watched and listened to you. Keep it coming please.”
“Lynden, your videos have been incredibly helpful. I’ve struggled with understanding 2-5-1 progressions for years, and your breakdown made it so clear. The way you explain concepts just clicks for me. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to teaching us!”
“Your tips on playing low notes have completely changed my approach. I used to struggle so much, but now I can play them with confidence. Your advice on breathing and embouchure was just what I needed.”
“Genius! Best explanation I’ve encountered. This has opened the door for me to advance further. Thank you!”
“I can’t thank you enough for your improvisation tutorials. They have truly transformed my playing. Your explanations are so clear, and the examples you give are very practical. It’s like having a personal tutor at home!”
“I’ve watched many saxophone tutorials, but yours are the best by far. Your passion for teaching shines through in every video. The embouchure tips have dramatically improved my tone. Keep up the great work Lynden!”
“Hey Lynden, thank you for this wonderful lesson (I got it by email before you made the vid). I know this will be so invaluable to many like myself who want to vastly improve their tone. Mate, you are the best.”
“You are the best saxophone teacher on YouTube, what you explain is simple and understandable. super effective and applicable for students. Bravo and continue like that.
I am French and love your videos. I take advantage of this post to get your opinion: should we better learn the complete scales or the pentatonics first? Thank you!!!”
“This appears to be the best youtube sax site I have tried. Lynden is on the same page and what he shows and how he explains everything clicks with me straight away. As an older (lot older) beginner who is self taught, this really helps.
Thanks from the other side of the world (Cairns, Australia).”
